Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Tickets must be purchased in advance to guarantee your spot. Tours sell out quickly!

What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Please let the guide know what you cannot eat at the beginning of the tour. Your guide will do everything possible to arrange substitutes for you. If you need to skip the food at a particular stop, your guide will make sure you get an extra sample at another stop.

Are children allowed on the tour?
Of course! Everyone loves to learn, have fun, and sample delicious foods. This tour is appropriate for ages 10 and above and there is a discount for children under the age of 15. All participants, regardless of age, must purchase a ticket to attend the tour.

If this trip is sold out can I get on a waiting list?
Unfortunately, there are no waiting lists for these tours. Please check another date/time for availability!

What happens if it rains?
The tours will take place in all light weather conditions. In rare circumstances such as a heavy snowstorm, a hurricane, or other extreme weather when the tour venues can't open, the tour would be canceled with an opportunity to reschedule or receive a full refund.

What places will we go on the tour?
Although the tours vary, you can be sure that you will visit the finest shops featuring authentic, hand-crafted, and traditional foods in Philadelphia.

How much food will I eat on the tour?
Plenty. You'll be tasting a variety of foods and beverages including tomato pie, soft pretzels, tastykakes, Italian hoagies, cheese steaks, cheese fries, chocolate-covered pretzels and cookies. This tour will include 8 food samples and 5 stops. Please keep in mind that most people find this to be enough for a meal.

Will I be able to drink anything on the tour
Bring a water bottle if you'd like to. There will be opportunities along the way to purchase additional beverages.

Is there a lot of walking on the tour?
You will walk less than 30 minutes, approximately 1 mile, during the 2.5 hour tour. We will walk at a very leisurely pace, so you should have no problem.

Will I learn about Philadelphia on the tour?
Yes. The guides have lived in Philly for a number of years and they will incorporate important information about the neighborhood(s) you are touring into their narrative.

I'm from the Philly area. Is the tour still good for me?
Absolutely! You will explore hidden places that you may not know of, meet purveyors and learn many new things about foods, their history and how they're made. You will see some of the coolest spots in the city, and experience your hometown in a totally new way.

Will I have the opportunity to shop during the tour
Yes! Please bring extra cash or credit if you think you might like to purchase some of the items you sample along the way.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Many of the stops on the tour are totally wheelchair accessible, but some are not. Anyone in a wheelchair is welcome to come on the tour. Please provide advance notice if you require wheelchair assistance so the necessary accommodations can be made.

Should I give the guide a tip?
Yes. If you enjoyed the tour, we recommend that you give the guide (and assistant if it's a larger tour) a gratuity. They take pride in what they do and appreciate positive feedback. What you tip is up to you. If you want a rule of thumb, $5.00 per person is an average tip.

Cancellation Policy

There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Change policy

If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can only be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.
